Earth Day Open House
Feed me!The Sunday closest to Earth Day (April 22) is a great time to get down to the Center to enjoy early spring.

  • Animal Care Fundraiser – come and meet some cool live animals!
  • Hike
  • Explore the exhibit
  • Sign up for Summer Day Camp Programs and take advantage of the early bird discount.

Sundays are free admission days. However, there will be a $5 fee for the Earth Day program in our multi-purpose room. All proceeds will help feed and house our live animals.

The 2009 theme was “How People Help Animals” and we talked about all the ways that people care for, help out, or rescue animals. Whether it is an abandoned pet or orphaned woodchucks, people can help.

There were live animals, of course. That is the theme of the day! There are few things that connect people more to the earth than a live animal.

2009 Guests included:

  • The Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue
  • Shanon Rumbaugh, wildlife rehabilitator
  • Chris Duckett who rescues unwanted, abused, neglected and abandoned reptiles and amphibians and tries to find responsible homes for them
  • Ken Roblee from the NYS DEC
  • Sarah Robinson, pet store employee and pet owner

Check back later to see plans for the 2010 event.  If you would like to help, or have suggestions, call the center at 716-569-2345 and ask for Sarah.
