One of our favorite traditions is gathering on Superbowl Sunday (February 1, 2009!) to enjoy a day of indoor and outdoor activities before returning home to watch the big game. Fun for the whole family 11am-5pm. Admission: $5/person, children under 12 are admitted free of charge.
(All programs and activities subject to change without notice.)
Auditorium Presentations
Birds of Prey:
Paul Fehringer, wildlife rehabilitator from Wild Spirit Rehab and Release Center, will bring a few of his non-releasable birds so that you can learn about these wonderful animals up close! Arrive early! Paul can only stay until 2pm this year. Presentations at 11:30am and 1pm.
New Hope Assistance Program of Warren: Learn how dogs can be used to enrich the lives of people with disabilities. Presentation at 12:30pm.
Energy Conservation: Learn from our very own energy nerd, Jeff Tome, how you, too, can green your home as well as your wallet. He’ll share simple things you can do to live a greener lifestyle while saving money. Presentation at 2pm.
Reptiles: Learn about our resident reptiles from one of our resident naturalists. Here, teacher-naturalist Sarah Hatfield teaches about Garter Snakes. (We’re working on another surprise… hopefully we’ll be able to show you some non-native species, too!) Presentation at 3pm.
Activities
Children’s Crafts
Take the elevator to the third floor to find tables set up with craft opportunities. Volunteers will be on hand to assist and instruct.

Crafts will be available throughout the day, or until supplies run out.
Sleigh Rides: For $5/person (children under 12 free) you can enjoy a wintery horse-drawn sleigh ride! Rides are available from noon until 4pm.
Build a Bluebird Nest Box
For a small fee, you can build your own nest box out in “The Clubhouse”. Take it home and put it up on your property to attract cavity-nesting birds. Our amazing volunteers will have cut out kits and will be on hand to help you build the box with ease. Cost: $5/kit. Bird box building will continue throughout the day, or until supplies are depleted.
Snowshoe Demonstration: Try on a pair of snow shoes and see how you like it! (Evergreen Outfitters).
