Hi! I’m Hollyann Leach, or Holly to those at Audubon (and everywhere else). I am the newest official naturalist at Audubon after being an intern during the summer of 2008. I never intended to end up in education, yet here I am, continuing to go into classrooms well after graduating and earning the right not to! I’m not sure what the future holds, but for now, teaching at Audubon is too much fun!
My friends affectionately call me a tree-hugger, and I guess that fits! Trees are right up there with my very favorite nature things, but I can’t say I’ve discovered my natural passion yet. I’m still very much absorbed with learning all I can about what’s around me. Toads are moving up in the rankings, though, and a great accomplishment for me recently was actually catching a Northern Water Snake!
Before I discovered Audubon, I earned life experiences (oh, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science) through social organizations, internships and travel at Westminster College. Turns out I’m one of the few extroverts at Audubon, so it was natural for me to minor in Public Relations. Both disciplines have suited me well in my time at Audubon.
On any random day you can find me performing an assortment of tasks including working, reading, creating a new craft, socializing, or hugging a beautiful tree.
