Program and Camp Director
Jennifer began as program director in October of 1998. She likes to tell people that she gets paid to take children for walks in the woods, but her duties also include overseeing a staff of 1 part-time and 2 fulltime naturalists, recruiting and training a couple of dozen education volunteers, scheduling programs, creating reports, maintaining the websites, creating and leading programs for schools, scouts, families and adults, and jumping through the hoops that allow Audubon to run a summer Day Camp.
While Jennifer likes to think of herself as a generalist when it comes to all things nature, she has tended to focus her energies on nestbox birds, spring wildflowers, and dragonflies. She is slowly becoming a better birder by shadowing scientists in the area who do bird banding and by tagging along with “real” birders.
Prior to coming to Audubon, Jennifer (Scott) taught computer science and math at Jamestown Community College for eighteen years. She has two associates degrees from JCC, a Bachelor’s from Arizona State University, and several graduate classes under her belt from Rochester Institute of Technology and Oklahoma State University.
In her spare time, Jennifer likes to hike, camp, take pictures and blog about her discoveries. You can see her work online:
