Nature Education Internship
paid, $8.40 hourly
Summer 2010
Mid-May – mid-August, this is a (nearly) fulltime (6-8 hours per day) summer job for someone who wants to experience what it would be like to work at a Nature Center! Primary responsibilities are leading programs for school and other youth groups and serving as a day camp counselor for our summer programs. A wide variety of other experiences are possible, depending on interest, and will be negotiated at the time of employment.
These activities include gardening, caring for our live animals (mostly herps, but also including a non-releasable bald eagle), developing displays for our in-house exhibit, data collection in the field for various research projects, a variety of administrative tasks including record-keeping, reporting, publicity, and more.
Must be 18 years of age and have an interest in, knowledge of, and comfort in the natural world, and experience working with children. Familiarity with Audubon is a plus.
