You are invited to a Pancake Breakfast
Saturday, April 18, 2009, 9am-11am
Please call the center to reserve a seat if you would like to:
- Meet the staff and current volunteers,
- Learn your way around the sanctuary and buildings,
- Share your interests and energy,
- Contribute new ideas, and
- Join the volunteers who give many hours of their time!
The staff could not begin to do the work of Audubon without our very loyal and dedicated volunteers. Every year hundreds of volunteers give thousands of hours of their time. Many, many thanks to all the fine people who make it happen at Audubon.
Volunteers are needed in these and other areas:
(Don’t know how? Don’t worry! We’ll train you!)
Throughout the Year:
- Education: lead walks, give talks, help staff prepare displays and exhibits and make props for programs.
- Office: data entry, grapic design, posters, flyers, filing, photocopies, mailings, etc.
- Buildings and Grounds: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, repairs, sign-making, trail mainetnance, gardening, etc.
- Animal Care: feed and care for our collection of animals including Liberty the Bald Eagle, fish, turtles, frogs, salamanders, and a garter snake.
- Research: bird counts, surveys, etc…
Volunteers are Also Needed for:
Annual Events
- Birdseed Savings Days: twice per year help hoist 20- and 40-lb bags of birdseed into folks’ trunks
- Roadside Cleanup: twice per year help clean up our section of Route 62
- Snowflake Festival: parking, kitchen, children’s crafts, ticket taker, greeter, setup, clean up.
- Animals of the Earth Day: ticket taker, greeter
- Art in the Woods: parking, kitchen, ticket taker, greeter, booth sitter, set up, clean up, artist hospitality, etc.
- Monarch Butterfly House: setup, clean up, education, tagging, ticket taker, greeter, etc.
- Run for Liberty:
- Annual Meeting (Dinner andVolunteer Recognition):
- Enchanted Forest: actors, fire flies (trail guides), children’s activities, story telling, etc.
- Homemade Holidays: set up
- Thanksgiving with the Birds:
