So… last year the naturalists at Audubon spontaneously went to see salamander eggs and fairy shrimp in vernal pools, hiked nearby trails in search of spring wildflowers, swept the grasses near our ponds in search of resident dragonflies, went on random forays looking for everything from herps to flowers to birds, and snow-shoed or skied around the trails looking for animal tracks. Most of these adventures were spur of the moment – dependent on a hole in our schedule and perfect weather conditions. Sometimes we went by ourselves, sometimes we had friends tag along…

So… then we started talking… Could this be a regular thing… and is there a way to generate some revenue from this idea? We tossed out a couple of scenarios: you pay $20 for the privilege of being on the call/email list and then we invite you when we feel spontaneous. Or, you get on the list for free, but you pay $5 if you show up for one of these nature adventures…

So… does any of this sound the least bit interesting to YOU? If so, complete the form below. Tell us what you think of the idea and whether you would participate in such a loosely organized “club.” Which payment method seems more fair/reasonable to you? Or do you have a different suggestion? Also, let us know what kinds of nature adventures you might be interested in having spontaneously organized? Are you into flowers, reptiles, amphibians, birds? What’s your passion? It’ll only happen if there is enough interest… so let us know how much interest there is out there.
